Data integration of transformer measurements with Janitza measuring devices
SMIGHT Grid2 Connect UMG
To complement SMIGHT‘s existing four-phase feeder measurements, we have teamed up with Janitza to offer an adapter for their transformer monitors, which enables transformer measurements to be communicated seamlessly into our SMIGHT IQ Cockpit. The bluetooth model slots into the back of the Janitza device and connects automatically to SMIGHT IoT Gateway, which in turn communicates out into SMIGHT’s cloud environment.
With the SMIGHT Grid2 Connect UMG, you can easily and quickly integrate Janitza measurement devices into the SMIGHT ecosystem, enabling efficient transformer-level network condition monitoring.
- The following measurement values are transmitted to the SMIGHT Cloud:
U, I, P, S, cos phi, THDu, THDi. - The adapter connects Janitza UMG 96-PQ-L series devices with a SMIGHT Grid2 Gateway in just a few minutes—with the need for any wiring i.e., communication is via Bluetooth.
- Three-phase voltage and transformer load information can be collected and visualized.
- The use of the measurement device via Janitza’s GridVis remains unrestricted.
More transparency – more knowledge
Once installed, current, voltage, and power measurement values from the Janitza device are displayed in the SMIGHT IQ low-voltage cockpit.
Threshold notifications for current and voltage can also be configured.
Plug, scan, ready
Step 1
Deactivate the power supply of the Janitza UMG 96.
Insert the SMIGHT Grid2 Connect UMG into the Janitza device.
Step 2
Activate the SMIGHT Grid2 Connect UMG via the SMIGHT App and QR code.
Restore the power supply.
Step 3
Automatic transmission of measurement data via the Grid2 Gateway to the IQ Cloud.

Stations without or with an incompatible Janitza model can be easily retrofitted
If needed, a version of the Janitza UMG 96-PQ-L in SMIGHT design with a Connect UMG is available.
