Started in 2014 as a corporate start-up with four employees, SMIGHT today combines the know-how of over 30 professionals. Whether creative mind, number cruncher or out-of-the-box thinker – in an innovative environment everyone uses their skills to prepare grid operators for e-mobility and a successful energy transition. We work with competence, passion and team spirit to get closer to our vision of a digital grid every day.
Our way to become a Smart Grid company
In the beginning of SMIGHT we were all about Smart City. We developed intelligent, multifunctional streetlights and introduced public WiFi to cities and communities. In 2018 a cooperation with Netze BW started the joint development of a sensor for the low voltage grid. Out of this came our IoT solution SMIGHT Grid and our focus on the topic of the Smart Grid.
In June 2022, the next big step for SMIGHT came: The spin-off to a GmbH. With this setup we want to evolve from an innovative product offering into a strong market position, grow even faster and establish new partnerships.

SMIGHT combines the best of both worlds: As a standalone GmbH we follow an agile and flexible approach. As part of the EnBW family we have a broad network and expertise in managing distributed infrastructures.
We develop our embedded IoT components and systems in-house, so that our solutions are always individually adapted to the needs of grid operation. At the same time, we use our profound grid experience to create optimal products.
